Support Groups


All Support Groups are led by trained facilitators and are free of charge!

Depression
This support group targets those with Depressive Disorder, and helps provide group self-support, teach/learn coping mechanisms, and become familiar with the latest advances in medical and therapeutic intervention. In Evansville: 7:00 pm every 1st Thursday at St. Anthony's Center of Family Life, 713 N. 2nd Ave, Top Floor - Dining Room - Next door to Mental Health America Office.

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
This support group provides education, advocacy and peer problem-solving for those with OCD & Anxiety. Behavioral intervention techniques and research information is shared. Meets: 7:00 pm every 2nd Wednesday at St. Anthony's Center of Family Life, 713 N. 2nd Ave., Top Floor - Dining Room - Next door to Mental Health America Office.

Bipolar/Manic Depressive Disorder
This ongoing group helps individuals and their loved ones cope with the high and low emotions of bipolar disorder. Come together for discussion, sharing, and learning. Meets: 7:00 pm every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital, 3700 Mary St., Evansville. Rehabilitation Institute Building, 3rd floor - through double doors, 1st room on left.

Anxiety Disorder
This support group helps those who suffer from anxiety, phobias, and/or panic attacks by literature and peer sharing. Meets: 7:00 pm every 2nd Wednesday at St. Anthony's Center of Family Life, 713 N. 2nd Ave., Top Floor - Dining Room - Next door to Mental Health America Office.

Widow or Widower
This group provides support for individuals over the age of 50 who have lost a spouse. Meets: 3 times per month for breakfast, dinner, and/or a game of cards. Call MHA for more information on the next meeting.

Survivors of Suicide
This continuing group helps those who have been in a family with someone who attempted or completed a suicidal act. It promotes the benefits of talking about and discussing alternatives to suicidal thinking. Meets: 6:30 pm every 1st and 3rd Monday at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Ave. (Entrance on Kelsey St. - Stairs/Elevators to the Left, 2nd Floor, 3rd Room on Right).

S.P.I.R.I.T. (Supporting Parents in Reaching Individual Triumphs)
This support group helps families with children who have behavioral and emotional difficulties by allowing them to meet and learn from other parents. Meets: 6:30-8:00 pm every 1st Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church, 300 Mary Street, Evansville. Childcare and refreshments available. For more information call: 426-2640
